BREMER COUNTY CONSERVATION BOARD
Naturalist/Recycling Educator

 DESCRIPTION: Permanent, full time position under the general supervision of the EE Coordinator/Naturalist and Director.  Plan, develop and present approximately 350 Environmental Education programs for seven public school districts, two parochial schools, youth groups (scouts, 4-H), adult and senior citizen groups as well as the general public.  Help market, design and develop printed materials such as newsletters, press releases and promotional flyers. May assist with grant writing, social media accounts, MyCountyParks.com and website development.  Scheduled duties and activities will be coordinated with the EE Coordinator/Naturalist.  The position will include approximately 85% environmental education activities and 15% recycling education.  

 QUALIFICATIONS: This person will have, at a minimum, graduated from an accredited 4 year college or university with major course work in environmental education, animal ecology, natural resources, outdoor recreation, or a related natural science field. Experience as a nature interpreter, teacher, or in the environmental education field is preferred. First Aid/CPR certification, swimming, sewing and recycling knowledge will be helpful.  Other skills/training that will be needed or applicant must be comfortable teaching include: GPS, Fish Iowa training, Project Wild, Frog & Toad monitoring, canoeing/kayaking, archery, biking and pellet gun.  Applicant must be personable and able to work on multiple programs/projects at a time. Applicant must possess a valid drivers’ license and be able to get a D3 classification before starting employment.  Computer literacy is essential including Google Docs, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint presentations. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. The selected applicant will be required to work some nights, weekends and holidays. This job requires passing a post offer physical and applicant will be subjected to a background check and drug testing.  

 SALARY: $32,000 – 38,000 with full county benefits; uniform allowance and access to a county vehicle provided during work hours. Benefits and rules for this position fall under the guidelines of the Bremer County personnel policy.

Bremer County Building and Zoning 
Building Inspector

The Bremer County Building & Zoning Department is seeking application for a Building Inspector.  Candidates must have at least 5 years experience in the building trades.  The individual will be involved with all phases of construction permitting, inspections, plan review, code and ordinance enforcement. Strong interpersonal skills are desired.

High school diploma or equivalent required.  Certification by ICC as a building inspector required within one year of employment and continued pursuit of future certifications is expected.  Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Bremer County Engineer
Engineering Aide I

Bremer County is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Engineering Aide I. Responsibilities include: construction inspection, assisting with construction and property surveys, drafting of technical drawings and plans via AutoCad, miscellaneous office and field duties. Inspection, surveying and drafting experience is preferred. Position requires an Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent experience. Must have a valid Iowa driver’s license, and must have or be able to obtain certification as an Iowa DOT aggregate, asphalt cement concrete and portland cement concrete plant inspector. Physical ability to work outdoors under adverse conditions is necessary. BREMER COUNTY SANITARY LANDFILL
Part Time – On Call Assistant to Landfill Manager

Bremer County is accepting applications for the position of Landfill Assistant.  This is a part time – on call position, with hours seasonally varying according to demand, from four to twenty or more per week.  Will work independently, or as part of a crew, operating but not limited to a hook truck, dump truck, wheel loader, farm tractor with three point mower and perform routine maintenance on the equipment, fences, buildings and grounds.  Also will include some scale house duties.

Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent; class B Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes, at least two years experience involving the operation of heavy equipment, ability to perform under adverse weather conditions and maintain an effective working relationship with fellow employees and the public.
