To vote in Iowa, you must be registered to vote.

To qualify to register to vote, you must be:

• A U.S. citizen,
• An Iowa resident, and
• At least 17 years old. A person may vote if they will be 18 years old on or before election day. In the case of primary elections, a person may vote if they will be 18 years old on or before the corresponding regular election.

You cannot:

• Be a convicted felon (unless your voting rights have been restored),
• Be judged mentally incompetent to vote by a court, or
• Claim the right to vote in any other place.

Voters who want their names to appear on the election registers on election day should pre-register to vote by 5 p.m.

• 10 days before general elections
• 11 days before primary, city, school, and all other special elections

Worry-Free Postmark
Any voter registration form that is postmarked no later than 15 days before election day is considered on time even if it is received after the voter pre-registration deadline.

A voter registration form can be downloaded here.  Registration forms can also be obtained in the Bremer County Auditor's Office, or can be found in the government section of many phone books.  Electronic registration is also available through the Iowa Secretary of State's website.

To request an absentee ballot for an upcoming election you must submit a completed Absentee Ballot Request Form to the County Auditor's Office.
