Veterans, you may be eligible for health care benefits! Many veterans are eligible for health care and prescription assistance through the VA Medical benefits program. To be considered for eligibility, you must complete the 10-10 Application Form and mail it into the:

Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center (136A)
Highway 6 West
Iowa City, IA 52246-2208

Application forms are available in the Bremer County Veteran Affairs Office. You can obtain this form by calling the office at (319)352-4209. You will need to attach a copy of your military discharge (DD-214) to assist in determining your eligibility.

Waterloo Outpatient Clinic Open for Veterans

Any veteran who has been determined eligible for care may be seen at the Waterloo Outpatient Clinic. Veterans who are currently registered with the Iowa City VA Medical Center and the VA Central Iowa Healthcare System in Des Moines and Knoxville are also eligible to receive care at the clinic. The Clinic is located at 1015 South Hackett Road. The Clinic is open Monday through Friday, 8:00a.m. until 4:30p.m. The Clinic is closed on all federal holidays. The Waterloo Outpatient Clinic is NOT an emergency center. If you have a life-threatening problem, please seek care at your local hospital. Medical services available at this clinic include:

  • Physical Evaluations
  • Basic X-Rays
  • Routing Laboratory Testing
  • Electrocardiograms

An initial supply of newly prescribed medications are issued through a local pharmacy. Refills will be mailed from the Iowa City VA Medical Center. If you have questions, please contact the Waterloo Outpatient Clinic at (319)235-1230.
