The Primary Election is a political party nomination election, currently for the Republican Party and the Democrat Party. .

In person: At this time, Absentee Voting in person will be available beginning Monday, May 4th 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday in the Bremer County Courthouse, 415 E Bremer Ave, Waverly, IA.
The following dates will have extended voting hours:
Friday, May 22nd - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Friday, May 29th - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Saturday, May 30th - 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Monday, June 1st - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
By mail: Due to the Emergency Election Directive from the Secretary of States Office, Absentee Voting by mail has been extended to begin on April 23, 2020. This is the first day ballots will be mailed out. Absentee ballot request forms must be received in the Auditor’s Office by 5:00 PM, Friday, May 22nd in order for an absentee ballot to be mailed.
The deadline to pre-register to vote for the Primary Election is 5:00 PM Friday, May 22nd . This applies to registration in person (including at driver’s license stations or agencies) or by mail. Mailed registration forms postmarked on or before Monday, May 18th are considered on time.
After May 22nd , a person may register to vote by showing proof of identity and proof of residency and must cast their ballot at that time. This maybe done at either the polling place on Election Day OR in the Auditor’s Office prior to Election Day.
**Pre-registered voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before receiving and casting a regular ballot.
**Pre-registered voters changing precincts must provide an approved form of identification and provide proof of residence.
**A voter who is unable to provide an approved form of identification (or prove residence if required)
1) May have their identity/residence attested to by another registered voter in the precinct. The attester must provide an approved form of identification.
2) Prove identity and residence using Election Day Registration documents, or
3) Cast a provisional ballot and provide proof of identity/residence at the County Auditor’s office by NOON on Monday, June 15, 2020.
